Before applying for a motorcycle learner licence, you must first pass the Basic Handling Skills Test (BHST).
The BHST is designed to confirm that you have the essential motorcycle control skills needed to ride safely on the road once you obtain your learner licence.
At Motorcycle Mastery, we provide everything you need for the session, including the motorcycle, riding gear, helmets, and a safe training course set up specifically for learning and assessment.
We offer two options depending on your experience level:
Learn and Test Session
Ideal for new riders or those with limited motorcycle experience. This longer session gives you time to learn, practise, build confidence, and then complete the BHST.
Guidance and Test Session
Suitable for riders who already have good basic motorcycle control, such as those with dirt bike experience or a strong riding background. This shorter session focuses on guidance, refinement, and assessment.
Our BHST sessions currently run on Sundays at either Kaipara College in Helensville or Westgate.
